Hello EAC Band Teachers –
Thank you for a wonderful first All-County rehearsal yesterday! Your help running equipment, chaperoning, and assisting with students is what makes these festivals possible! A few important notes for our March sessions:
1. Concert Tickets – on sale here. Please share the link with students & their parents!
2. Concert Attire – dressy attire, white on top, black on bottom, dark shoes
3. Music Stands – students must bring a music stand to the next rehearsal!
4. Percussion – if you have a percussionist in the ensemble, I will be reaching out to you soon to finalize the equipment list now that we have a better grasp on the rentals and NewRo’s setup.
Please also see the following message from our EAC 2025 Band Conductor, Don Whitman. Please share and send it to your students!

Dear Elementary All County Band Students,
Thank you so much for your time and hard work at our first rehearsal on Monday. I know many of you were up late the night before, and then had a long day at school followed by a long (and hot!) rehearsal on stage. Your attention throughout was incredible and your band teachers and parents should be very proud to have you representing your school at this event!
As we prepare for our second (and final) rehearsal day on March 4th, I would like to remind you of some very important steps that you, as a member of the band, are responsible to accomplish:
1) Your individual parts should be mastered. This includes pitch, rhythm, tempo, dynamics and articulation. Practice this music every day between now and March 4th!
2) Use jwpepper.com (or makemusic if you have access to it) to listen to professionals play the parts and to play along with.
3) Mark your music with reminders for sharps, flats, naturals, counting and dynamics. Be sure you know when you have the melody, and (more importantly) when you do not!
4) Bring a music stand with you to the next rehearsal and make sure you practice using it beforehand. Can you raise and lower it so that it is at a height that will help you play your best?
Our goal is to use March 4th to bring out the best of the group and the 4 pieces. We do not want to use this time learning our parts. The more each member practices, the better our performance will be!
Looking forward to seeing you on March 4th!
Mr. Whitman

Intermediate Orchestra – Kate Stocker
Kate Stocker is an engaging educator and performer in the metropolitan New York area. Throughout her career, her passion to collaborate and make music with those around her has always been palpable.
The foundation of Ms. Stocker’s career has been built on giving all students an opportunity to have a rich and rewarding musical experience, regardless of ability. During her tenure as string teacher at Briarcliff Middle School, she co-founded the Rivertowns Honors Orchestra, a multi-district festival featuring middle school orchestra and band students. As the strings teacher at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, Ms. Stocker led her students in a concert at Carnegie Hall, as well as a performance tour to Munich and Salzburg. Ms. Stocker currently teaches strings at the Hommocks Middle School in Mamaroneck, in Westchester County. She continues to create positive musical experiences for all
students by bridging the gap between elementary and middle school in a large and successful school district.
While the majority of her career has been in Westchester County, Ms. Stocker’s ties have always remained close to her native Long Island. She is a proud alum of the Usdan Center for Creative and Performing Arts, where she spent several summers managing the orchestra program, as well as conducting the junior orchestra and piloting a beginner’s strings class. Last Summer, with collaboration from the Westchester Children’s Chorus, Ms. Stocker brought this experience to the County as she co-founded the Summer Music Intensive. The SMI is a one-week artistic experience for instrumental, vocal, and piano students in the Hudson Valley who long to create and collaborate with other music students in Westchester County.
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Stocker has achieved much success as a conductor and performer. She has conducted several All-County festivals around New York State, served on the board for the Westchester County School Music Association (WCSMA), and performed with and served as board president of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Stocker is also the second violinist of the Meadowlark Quartet, which has performed at Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Museum, and other notable concert venues.
Ms. Stocker received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College in 2007, and her Masters of Science in Music Education from Western Connecticut State University in 2011.
