1. Since the Senior High School Jazz, Elementary and Intermediate festivals are completely a function of WCSMA, music teachers submitting students’ applications must be active members of WCSMA in good standing. |
2. Instrumental students will NOT BE auditioned if their application have not been received by the postmarked deadline indicated on the registration form. Vocal students’ listings must be submitted by the deadline also. All applications must be submitted by the students’ school music instructor and not by the private teachers. |
3. Students must have the approval of their school music teachers in order to be eligible for auditions for state and county sponsored festivals. They must attend school daily in Westchester County. They must be a member in good standing of the school organization, which corresponds to the WCSMA organization for which they are auditioning. |
4. Directors are encourage to explore the possibility of having their school boards take out memberships for their music department personnel. |
5. All elementary, intermediate and senior high instrumental students will have to audition for participation in the band, orchestra or jazz ensemble. |
6. Instrumental students and vocal students for the Elementary Festival will be chosen from grades 4-6. Intermediate Festival students will be chosen from grades 7-9. Senior high students will be chosen from grades 10-12. |
7. A chaperone must accompany students on a school bus when attending any WCSMA function. |

9. Guest Conductors: All guest conductors for the High School Festival shall be from outside the Westchester County area. For the Intermediate Festival, whenever feasible, two of the three conductors should be from outside the county; the third shall be from WCSMA on a rotating basis among the three organizations. For the Elementary Festival, one of the three conductors should be from outside the county on a rotating basis among the three organizations; the other two shall be from WCSMA. |
