AREA ALL-STATE CHORUSES 2018

Dear Chorus Participant,

Congratulations on being accepted into the NYSSMA Area All-State Mixed Chorus or Treble Chorus (formerly Women’s Choir)! We are delighted that we have so many talented singers in our midst that we can offer two honors ensembles. You represent the best of our county, and we are looking forward to working with you!

Anthony Blake Clark (Mixed Chorus) from George Washington University and Adam Paltrowitz (Treble Chorus) from Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy HS will be the conductors this year. You are sure to learn a lot and make some great music with these inspiring and talented conductors!

REHEARSALS:
Wednesday, October 24th White Plains High School 4:00-9:00 PM
Wednesday, November 7th White Plains High School 4:00-9:00 PM
Thursday, November 8th SUNY Performing Arts Center 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Thursday, November 8th Concert: SUNY Performing Arts Center Call time 7:00 PM
Concert 8:00 PM

Attendance at every rehearsal for the entire duration is mandatory. Students who miss any

portion of any rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the concert.

Bring your music, two sharpened pencils, and water. Your music is your responsibility and must be returned to your coordinator at the final concert. Students who do not return music will be charged a replacement fee.

Come to every rehearsal with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a high level of preparation. We strongly encourage you to work on the music with a teacher and other participants from your school prior to your first rehearsal. Please use the practice tracks provided to learn your part- your teacher will have the files to share with you.

Voicings: Please check your voicings carefully before learning your parts. Your voice part assignment is on the label on your folder. Any questions should be directed to your teacher.

Concert Attire:

Ladies: All black. Tops with skirts/pants or a dress are permitted. Black dress slacks are acceptable-no leggings/jeggings/jeans! Outfits must be modest in both fit and cut. Tops should have sleeves—short or long, but no tanks/camisoles. Your skirt must be long enough to cover your knees, and if it does not reach the floor, you should also wear black tights. Black dress shoes (either flat or with a low heel). All black means exactly that—no other colors should be part of your outfit!

Gentlemen: Tuxedo style: black dress pants, white button-down dress shirt, black bow tie, black sport coat, black socks, black dress shoes.

We look forward to seeing and hearing you on the 24th!

Sincerely,
